Position Summary |
The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to department leadership in the Departments of Germanic and Slavic Studies and Linguistics. The position will facilitate the department's communication efforts and assist with event planning. Responsibilities include working on communication, aiding other office staff, and general reception work. The incumbent should use proper verbal and written communication and exhibit a high level of professionalism online, in writing, and verbally. The person who fills this position will be expected to use discretion with confidential information. |

Office Assistant:
- Provide support to office staff in Departments of Germanic and Slavic Studies and Linguistics.
- Perform general receptionist duties as needed. Answers phone and greets faculty, students, and visitors, giving general information in response to inquiries; delivers oral and written messages. Responds to questions as they relate to school policies and procedures and ensures necessary follow-up.
- Assist departmental administrators, faculty, and staff with event management.
- Assist faculty and graduate students with office machines and maintain departmental bulletin boards.

Departmental Communications Coordination:
- Maintain accurate and current information on the Germanic and Slavic Studies and Linguistics Department websites.
- With input from the department head and faculty, generate and edit content and coordinate all logistics in creation of all communication means including:
- Event advertisement
- Seminar/colloquia flyers
- Study abroad brochures
- Digital signage
- Develop and curate engaging content for social media platforms:
- Assist in the creation and editing of written and photo content.
- Attend events and produce live social media content.
