Job Title: Machinery - Lead Assembler

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 6:00am-2:00pm

Location: Germantown, WI

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The employee is responsible for the assembly of machines and accessories and will need knowledge in electrical and mechanical assembly. The lead assembler will be responsible for assisting the supervisor and leadership team to ensure the team has the information and resources to successfully complete customer orders. This person provides updates and makes recommendations to leadership on the best way to meet the customer needs. The lead assembler is a champion and peer role model for the concepts of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Provide daily line status updates to supervisor as required, conduct daily shift start Tier 1 GEMBA
  2. Assist the supervisor in assigning work to team members, make recommendations
  3. Provide feedback to leadership on possible behavioral and/or performance coaching opportunities
  4. Assist team members to escalate material shortages and inventory discrepancies
  5. Champion communication to peers for safety, quality, ECNs, in area of responsibility
  6. Advocate for Design for Assembly and Continuous Improvement ideas and suggestions
  7. Electrical and Mechanical assembly of machines and machine options
  8. Set up and test machines to ensure they are working properly
  9. Troubleshoot and repair assembly errors quickly and effectively
  10. The ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings
  11. Provided feedback to engineering to aid in product development.
  12. May be assigned in-house repair of machines.
  13. Accurately prepares paperwork as assigned.
  14. Provides assistance during monthly and yearly physical inventory.
  15. Utilizes, maintains and cares for all Sharp Packaging supplied tools.
  16. Performs other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
  • Ability to read a schematic wiring diagram and blueprint.
  • Has working knowledge of operations/manufacturing systems, MRP concepts, and MS office
  • Is high-energy, self-motivated team player with the ability to multi-task.
  • Is detail oriented with solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Has strong analytical skills and creative problem solving ability.
  • Has leadership courage, self-confidence & is committed to team member feedback and growth
  • Is experienced with material flow through a manufacturing facility
  • Is willing to flex working hours to cover customer needs in a given week.
  • Is able to keep work areas clean following guidelines.
  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures.
  • First Aid/ AED/ CPR certified



EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

High School diploma, or GED equivalent desired; 1 year related experience in a technically oriented position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
